The gubernatorial candidate of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, Hakeem Lawal has denied report that he has given up his ambition to become governor of Kwara State in the forthcoming general elections.
Hakeem who made this disclosure through the
Deputy Director, Media and Strategic Communications of his Campaign Organisation, Abdulrasheed Akogun, on Thursday March 2, thereby described the insinuation as “outright falsehood, malicious deceit and handiwork of the All Progressives Congress, APC,” in the state.
This much was contained in a press release signed by Abdulrasheed Akogun, Deputy Director, Media and Strategic Communications of the Campaign organisation, stressing that the government is jittery,
He further noted that it was ruse was designed by the ruling party to confuse the Kwaran populace at large.
He said “Alh. Hakeem Oladimeji Lawal is not only in the GOVERNORSHIP race to win, he’s in the race in trust for the masses of Kwara, thus he’s not and would NEVER betray the trust of the masses and the collective aspiration and good governance yearnings of the good people of Kwara kept in his care.
“The malicious rumour is an attempt by the outgoing Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq led APC to thwart the wishes of the people and it has not only failed, it’ll continue to fail.
“Having realised the outcome of the disputed and largely discredited February 25 National Assembly polls was nothing but a fluke, which is farther from the reality in Kwara of today. They’ve resulted to blackmail, falsehood and outright fake news which is their stock in trade.
“We remain resolutely undaunted and religiously focused on our divinely ordained mission of rescuing Kwara from the stranglehold of a deceitful, insincere chammeleonic government that holds the masses in contempt.
“While we’re not averse to working with other parties and interested individuals, provided it is in the everlasting interest of Kwara and the Kwara masses, we assure the electorates and the general masses that we will not betray their trust and confidence.
