Former senator who represented Jigawa Northeast in the 8th Senate, Muhammad Ubali Shittu has reconciled with Jigawa State Governor, Alhaji Abubakar Badaru.
The senator in his statement on Sunday stated that he and governor Abubakar Badaru have forgiven each other over the disagreement that transpired between them in the build up to the 2019 general elections.
Ubali, was part of the 15 lawmakers who defected alongside former senate president, Dr. Bukola Saraki from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in July 2018 over frosty relationship with the executive.
The Hadejia born politician was said to have played a vital in the emergence of Bukola Saraki as the chairman of the 8th National Assembly.
In 2019, Ubali failed to secure re-election into the Red Chamber following a defeat by former Jigawa state deputy governor, Barrister Ibrahim Hassan who also hails from Hadejia Local Government.
Ubali’s reconciliation with the Abubakar Badaru followed the emergence of his kinsman, the current deputy governor of Jigawa, Dr. Umar Namadi Danmodi as the APC gubernatorial flagbearer in forthcoming 2023 general elections.
Ubali, after a close door meeting with Badaru said: “We have reconciled and set aside our differences as we have forgiven each other and everything that has happened in the past is gone. The Quran says: “reconciliation brings nothing but good.”
“May Allah, the supreme of all deities make Umar Namadi Danmodi the governor of Jigawa State come 2023.
“Indeed, we thank Allah for making you (Governor Abubakar Badaru) facilitate the emergence of the APC gubernatorial candidate from Hadejia Zone.
“In the history of Hadejia, no one has ever given us this kind of privilege, except you. Even though we have contributed immensely to other zones in past. But now, it is time for other zones too to join hands with us and support Umar Namadi Danmodi to become governor of Jigawa in 2023 by Allah’s will.”
