A stalwart of the All Progressive Congress in the state, Aliyu Wamakko, described the election of Bola Tinubu as standard bearer of the All Progressives Congress in 2023 as a device to unify the country.
The former Governor of Sokoto State made this assertion during a solidarity visit by Yoruba leaders and Association of Sokoto State Residents Community in his Gawon Nama residence in Sokoto.
Wamakko said Nigeria is one indivisible entity, “therefore, Sokoto is a home to all the tribes irrespective of where one comes from.”
He said “Nigeria is for all of us hence the need to come together and work for a better tomorrow.”
Wammako stated that he cancelled payment of school fees by non-indigenes during his administration and also appointed non-indigenes into his cabinet.
Reacting, Chairman of the Council of Obas, Alhaji Surajudeen Sahabi, on behalf of the group, expressed readiness to support the presidential candidate of the party, Tinubu and the APC governorship candidate in Sokoto State, Ahmed Sokoto in the general elections.
In the same vein, chairman, Association of Sokoto State Residents Community, Alhaji Salmanu Oke, assured Wammako of the group unwavering support towards the ruling party in forthcoming elections.
He, however, extolled Wammako over the kind gestures extended towards the resident community during his time as Governor.
