Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) Atiku Abubakar, has assured indigenes of the Federal Capital Territory that their due entitlements and appointments will not elude them if elected as president in 2023.
The former vice president said the interests of the people will be constitutionally protected and guaranteed if they vote for him.
He made this vow during the party’s presidential rally held in Abuja on Saturday.
Atiku said, “All the entitlements and appointments due to Abuja in accordance with the current constitution will be given to you. You know that we have done so before, and we are going to do so again.

“If what you have demanded requires constitutional review, we assure you that we will support that constitutional review, so that your aspirations will be protected and guaranteed in our new constitution.”
Atiku further noted, “We will restructure this country. In the course of restructuring, we will give you all that you are demanding. I want to assure you of that.”
The Wazirin Adamawa revealed that the the security challenges in Nigeria has extended to the FCT. He said, “We will protect Abuja and secure it for you.”
He also reminded his supporters of his 5-point agenda, saying, “We shall unify this country. Every part of this country will be given a sense of belonging. No part will be sidelined or marginalised. That is how to foster a sense a unity in a country like Nigeria.
“We have pledged to restore security. It is only when there is peace that we can fulfill our different aspirations.”
Earlier, the National Chairman of the PDP, Dr Iyorchia Ayu, had condemned the Buhari-led Federal government for inflicting suffering on Abuja residents, thereby forcing them back to their villages.
He continued, “We don’t want an experimental president, or someone who will deceive you, and would not know what to do. You know we woke up one day here in Abuja and we were threatened that the FCT would be attacked. Insecurity is affecting everybody. Many people all over the country cannot travel to their home states because roads, railways and airports are constantly under siege by bandits. We cannot run a country controlled by bandits. Return this country to the PDP, and see what we will do for you.”
Ayu, however, blamed the cost of living on the current administration, “Vote for our presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, because he knows what you are going through. Most of you will not enjoy Christmas because of the APC, due to the rising cost of goods and services. These people (APC) who told you lies to vote for them have created so much poverty and today, Nigeria is regarded as the poverty capital of the world.”
