1. The young Chef is Hilda Bassey Effiong, otherwise known as Hilda Baci. She is from Akwa Ibom State. She is the CEO of a restaurant in Lagos State “My Food by Hilda”
2. Baci is a TV personality
3. She has been cooking for the past four days uninterrupted.
4. One of the rules of the marathon challenge is that Hilda Bassey must remain standing throughout the cooking, she is not allowed to sit at all.
5. She’s not allowed to take coffee, stimulants, or any energy drink to artificially boost her energy and bodily strength while cooking
6. The young entrepreneur is only allowed to eat food, drink water or fruit juice, & take glucose though.
7. The marathon cooking challenge is taking place at Amore Gardens, Lekki Phase one, Lagos State, Nigeria.
8. She cooks round the clock, no sleep (Morning, afternoon, evening, and night. So, for 4 nights, she won’t sleep)
9. She is permitted to take 5 minutes off to rest in every one hour – meaning she has an hour break in every 12 hours.
10. Whatever she cooks is shared to the people at the venue for FREE. She is not selling the food.
11. Hilda Bassey cooks various meals at the same time. She is free to cook any meal she wants.
The World Record title is about preparing meals within a given time limit, not basically about what is cooked. So long as she is cooking, she is in the challenge.
12. Every meal cooked and every plate served is recorded.
She has cooked over 120 delicacies so far with almost 3,000 portions as of the time of putting these facts together.
13. She began her cooking on Friday and is expected to meet the finish line by Monday 15th May, 2023 evening.
14. She is currently challenging the current holder of the sought after record. Hilda is looking at breaking a Guinness World Record for cooking for 87 hours and 45 minutes non-stop in 2019 set by Indian chef Lata Tandon.
15. To set a new record, Hilda Baci is determined to cook for 96 hours, making her surpass Lata Tondon’s world record with extra 9 hours as the first person to spend such an amount of time cooking a marathon in the world.
16. She named the cooking challenge”Cook-a-thon”, a phrase she derived from the word “marathon”
17. With the look of things, Baci us already tired, but the people around her served as a major source of motivation for her to carry on. And they are present at the venue with her as she cook all round the clock.
18. Most of the food items, ingredients, utensils, etc she used during the marathon cooking challenge were brought by her sponsors. So, she did not incur 100% financial expenditure on the project.
19. Uber, one of her partners is offering a 40% discounted ride to convey those who wished to join and motivate during the the cooking to the venue.
20. Hilda’s mum is also a chef. She currently runs a food brand called “Calabar Pot.”
