26-year-old makes history, becomes youngest Kwara Assembly member-elect

Following the just concluded general election, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has declared a 26 year old candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC Rukayat Shittu as winner of the Owode-Onire Constituency Seat in the Kwara State House of Assembly.

The NOUN graduate, who secured 7,521 votes defeated her People’s Democratic Party (PDP) rival who got 6,957 votes to become member elect of Owode Onire state Constituency, Asa Local Government Area.

By the virtue of this declaration, the Asa born politician becomes the youngest lawmaker in the history of Kwara State House of Assembly.

Rukayat was until her nomination by the ruling APC, a news reporter for one of the leading Online newspapers in Kwara, JUST EVENT ONLINE.
