Five personnel of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) were killed in a fatal accident along the Jos-Akwanga Expressway on October 22, 2024.
The personnel were on their way to take part in a sports event in Abuja when their vehicle collided with an oncoming truck.
The Director of Public Relations and Information for NAF, Air Commodore Olusola Akinboyewa, confirmed the tragic incident in a statement on Tuesday.
He stated, “It is with deep regret that the Nigerian Air Force announces the loss of five of our gallant personnel in a road traffic accident on 22 October 2024.”
He explained that the accident took place near Hawan Kibo, along the Jos-Akwanga Expressway, when the vehicle carrying the personnel collided with a truck travelling in the opposite direction.
The Nigerian Air Force has initiated all necessary protocols to provide support to the families of the deceased.
Air Commodore Akinboyewa also urged the public to respect the privacy of the grieving families and to avoid spreading unverified information.
“May their souls rest in perfect peace,” he concluded.
