Terrorists have reportedly killed about 74 people in Mgban Local Government Area of Benue State.
This medium gathered that violence broke out between farmers and pastoralists due to an expansion of farmland and a reduction in grazing land for cattle herds.
Spokesperson for Benue State Police Command, Catherine Anene, revealed that 28 corpses were recovered at a camp for internally displaced people in Mgban local government area between Friday evening and Saturday morning.
Eyewitnesses also disclosed that gunmen stormed the village and started shooting sporadically, killing several people.
Meanwhile, on Wednesday, suspected herdsmen killed villagers at a funeral in Umogidi village of Otukpo local government area. Bako Eje, the chairman for Otukpo, leaving about 46 dead.
President Muhammadu Buhari has condemned the attacks and ordered security forces to intensify surveillance activities in affected areas.
However, many such incidents in remote parts of Nigeria go unreported due to the difficulty in accessing these areas and the delayed response time of security forces.
