Kwara State Chief Judge, Suleiman Kawu disclosed that the High Court has succeeded in disposing 834 out of 2,228 civil cases brought before it last year.
Kawu put the total number of criminal and civil cases awaiting judgement in the High Court at 1,533.
The legal luminary maintained that the state judiciary realised the sum of N86,977,191:20k fines and fees in 2022, thereby declaring the figure as triple of what was realised in 2022 and the highest in the history of the state judiciary.
The Chief Judge, however, said timely curbing of fraudulent processing of affidavits, oaths and other judicial forms and the automation of the oaths registry were responsible for the achievement.
He also stressed that 233 personnel of the judiciary were promoted in 2022 by the state judicial service commission.
In his speech, the Attorney General of the state, Barrister Senior Ibrahim Sulyman, eulogized the bar and bench for aiding the development of the state judiciary.
He, therefore, advocated unity among legal practitioners, noting that lawyers and judges should always be upright in their line of duty.
