Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has transmitted two Executive Bills to the state House of Assembly for passage.
The bills are the Kwara State Education Trust Fund Amendment Bill 2023 and Environmental Protection Agency Amendment Bill 2023.
The Governor forwarded the bills to the Speaker of the House, Hon. Yakubu Danladi-Salihu in separate letters on Tuesday.
According to AbdulRazaq the Kwara State Education Trust Fund Amendment Bill will allow for improved management of the trust fund established by law to organise membership of the board of trustees and staffing of the trust fund to trim down expenses and encourage efficiency.
The Governor continued that the Environmental Protection Agency Amendment 2023 will perfect the principal law to create more penalties for violation of some laws.
He added that the bill after its passage House of Assembly, will harden sanitation penalties under section 34 to 50 of the principal law, further noting that offenders would be convicted or fined.
AbdulRazaq, therefore, charged the House to hasten passage of the bills.
The bills were read the first time by Acting Clerk of the House, Alhaji Abdul-kareem Olayiwola Ahmed and scaled First Reading.
The Speaker, during the plenary session, referred the bills to House Committee on Rules and Business to be scheduled for second reading.
