Substitute Fisayo Dele-Bashiru ‘s lone goal gave the Super Eagles an edge over Libya.
Dele-Bashiru late goal was all Nigeria needed to beat Libya in their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying fixture in Uyo on Friday.
Alex Iwobi conjured Nigeria’s first chance of the match but his shot was saved by Libya goalkeeper Murad Al Wuheeshi.
The Super Eagles continued to provoke the visitors’ defence, with Al Wuheesh being firm between the sticks.
Captain William Troost-Ekong shot wide from inside the box two minutes before the half-hour mark.
The visiting team were conscious of the Super Eagles attacking threats as they sat back to absorb the pressure and needed Al Wuheeshi to stop another effort from Iwobi in the 40th minute.
There was a break in play for about five minutes after to allow Al Wuheeshi to receive medical attention for an injury.
The Super Eagles were not clinical jn front of goal as the team fired wide several times before Dele-Bashiru scored the winning goal in the 86th minutes following an assist from Moses Simon.
