Aluko meets NDLEA commander in Abuja, seeks end to drug demand among youth

Lawmaker representing Ilorin East/South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Ahmed Yinka Aluko, Ph.D. met with ACGN Ambrose Umoru, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Zonal Commander in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja on Friday.

According to the lawmaker, the meeting bordered on drug demand reduction among the teeming population of Nigerian youths.

Aluko further maintained that the crux of their discussion also included his planned empowerment and capacity building for young Nigerians, which would be unveiled soon.

He said, “I was thrilled to have Mr. Ambrose Umoru, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Zonal Commander 1 responsible for Plateau, Nassarawa, and Benue states, grace my office in Abuja this morning. Umoru, a former Kwara State NDLEA Commander, was known for his unwavering professionalism, dedication, and commitment during his tenure. His ability to maintain excellent relationships with the community played a pivotal role in his numerous accomplishments.

“Our meeting afforded us the chance to brainstorm various strategies for tackling drug abuse and trafficking, particularly among our youth. It turned out to be a highly productive conversation, and I also took the opportunity to discuss my legislative agenda focused on youth empowerment and development with him,” he explained.
