Bayo Onanuga, a media aide to the president-elect, Bola Tinubu, on Tuesday marvelled at the ‘excitement’ generated on the internet by a comment made by the online publication, Uberfacts.

Onanuga’s statement followed a post by Uberfacts concerning Tinubu’s alleged involvement in drug business, the presidential candidate of the ruling party. Uberfacts boasts about 13.5 million followers on the social networking site, Twitter.

Uberfacts had on Monday revealed that Tinubu forfeited $460,000 to the US government after a Chicago court declared the money as proceed from drug trafficking.

But reacting to the post, Onanuga said Uberfacts is “a junk site”.

“I think the dumbest group on global Twitter are Obidiots. They’re so confused that they’re looking for validation from all corners. Knowing that they needed followers from Nigeria, @UberFacts targeted Obidiots (referring to supporters of Obi) with their vague narratives. Trust them, they all jump at it. Jokers!” he wrote on his verified Twitter handle.

“I am surprised that some Nigerians are excited about @UberFacts, a Twitter account, notorious for random tweeting of falsehood and ” the most unimportant things you’ll never need to know”.

“Only in Nigeria will the junk site be stamped with some semblance of authenticity or conferred with a badge of authority, when many of its facts had long been dismissed as unreliable. Some years ago, Buzzfeed gave this damning verdict: “The Truth About UberFacts: They’re Often Wrong”, Onanuga wrote on his known Twitter handle.
