Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, Peter Obi, revealed that he challenged the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, for failing to give its presidential ticket to the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo to represent the party in the 2023 general elections.

Obi made this disclosure on Tuesday when he paid a courtesy visit to the publisher of Ovation Magazine, Dele Momodu at his London home to celebrate the Concord journalist on the occasion of his 63rd birthday.

The former Anambra governor maintained that Osinbajo is the candidate the APC should have presented if they are actually concerned about the nation’s progress.

“I’m interested to see Nigeria work, I don’t hide it, any day, anytime,” Obi said.

“I even confronted APC, asking why didn’t you bring Osinbajo, let’s have the place working for everybody, so that we have people who want to work for the country and are healthy and good.”

He said the presidential candidate presented by the APC (Bola Tinubu) could be said to be a great candidate 20 years ago.

Obi, who came distant third in the presidential election, after securing 6,101,533 votes, revealed that Nigeria at currently needs a leader who can work round the clock.

Tinubu, candidate of the APC won the election with a total of 8,794,726 votes. Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, who is the runner up garnered 6,984,520 votes.

However, the outcome of the presidential election is being challenged by the Labour Party and PDP in the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal in Abuja.

The Presidential Election Petition Tribunal on Wednesday adjourned to Friday, May 19 for further hearing in the petition filled by candidate of the Labour Party Obi against Tinubu.

Meanwhile, the factional chairman of the LP, Lamidi Apapa has revealed that he is not a party to any agitation standing against Tinubu’s swearing-in as president on May 29.
