Arsenal star, Bukayo Saka visits Sanwo-Olu, gifts Governor signed jersey

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Saturday, June 3 received Arsenal star, Bukayo Saka in his office.

The England forward who notched up 15 goals in the recently concluded Premier League season is in the state on vacation.

Since his arrival to the country, the Nigerian born football veteran had stirred series of reactions among football enthusiasts in the country.

The Nigerian descendant got a lot of football lovers talking when a video of him walking on the street of Lagos in white native attire emerged on the internet.

Saka is on a short term vacation in Nigeria after which he will head back to England before the commencement of the UEFA Nations League and pre-season tournaments.

Sanwo-Olu who was full of happiness while receiving Saka, maintained that the 21-year-old is his favorite Arsenal player.

He said he is an Arsenal fan, while noting how proud he is of their ‘incredible’ performance in the Premier league with a youth-dominated team.

He wrote, “Exciting day at the State House, Marina today as I had the pleasure of hosting my favorite @Arsenal player, Star Boy Bukayo Saka. @BukayoSaka87.

“I also enjoyed receiving my own signed Saka Jersey.

“As a proud #Gunner, I’m incredibly proud of their inspiring run in the Premier League with such a young team.

“Their determination has motivated many and shown us the power of youth. We’re committed to bringing that same spirit to grassroots football in Lagos.

“Together, let’s create opportunities for our talented young players.

“Thank you for visiting me Bukayo and I look forward to next season. #COYG.”

Saka’s visit to Lagos State would afford him the opportunity to connect with his Nigerian roots and relate with his Nigerian fans.

The football star visited orphanage known as Bales of Mercy around Bariga Area of the state.

Saka has joined the league of other players such as Paul Pogba, Ngolo Kante, Memphis Depay who had visited their countries of birth.
