Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has described Kai Havertz “a talented, versatile player”.
The Chelsea forward is on the verge of securing a transfer to the Emirates Stadium.
Multiple reports claimed that the North London club has allegedly agreed a £65m deal for the German international, who is billed to undergo a medical next week.
Havertz joined Chelsea from Bayern Leverkusen in September 2020, and has played for London outfit on 139 occasions, netting 32 goals and 15 assists.
In the 2022/2023 season, the Havertz scored just nine goals and one assist in 47 appearances.
German League leader, Bayern Munich had also expressed interest in the 24-year-old, but Arsenal have purportedly leapfrogged the German club in securing agreement with the player.
Arteta noted that Arsenal “are always interested in young players with experience” before praising Havertz’s qualities.
“Talent has a price and, at Arsenal, we are always interested in young players with experience,” Arteta told Marca.
“I repeat, I am not talking about players from other clubs, but, in the case of Kai, he has already shown a lot, including a Champions League. He is a talented, versatile player and he is only 24 years old.”
