Awoniyi gifts books to alma mater, repairs classrooms

Super Eagles and Nottingham Forest forward, Taiwo Awoniyi, on Monday, June 3 rendered financial support to his alma mater in Ilorin.

Awoniyi also donated stationery to the school.

The EPL star made an unnoticed visit to his primary school, Adetunji Nursery and Primary School, Alfa Yahaya, Ilorin, and his secondary school, Government Day Secondary School.

Awoniyi, during his visit to Nursery and Primary School, appreciated of the school, founder AbdulRahman Adetunji, for being a source of inspiration to him while growing up.

He also charged the pupils and students of both schools to continue to pursue their dreams.

“This man (Adetunji) is a huge inspiration, he made me the Games Prefect while I was in primary 4,” Awoniyi said.

“He was always encouraging us, his support then was a driving force and I am where I am today because I listened to the teachers. You need to listen to the teachers and follow their instructions always,” Awoniyi said.

The striker has initiated the repair of six classrooms and a hall at the Government Day Secondary School, Ilorin.
