President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Bayo Ojulari as the new Group Chief Executive Officer, replacing Mele Kolo Kyari.
The president also sacked board chairman Pius Akinyelure alongside the board of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC).
Spokesperson to the President, Bayo Onanuga, in a press release, said the decision was taken in order to improve operational efficiency, restore investor confidence, and make NNPC economically attractive.
Kyari took charge of NNPC under former President Muhammadu Buhari before his tenure was extended by President Tinubu in 2023.
With the sweeping reconstitution, Bayo Ojulari becomes the new group CEO, while Ahmadu Musa Kida has been appointed as NNPC’s new non-executive chairman, replacing Pius Akinyelure Also, Adedapo Segun has been confirmed as the company’s chief financial officer (CFO).
In line with the PIA, the president also appointed six non-executive directors from each geopolitical zone of the country.
