According to multiple reports Southampton defensive midfielder, Romeo Lavia has verbally agreed to join Arsenal Football Club.
If both the two parties (Arsenal and Southampton) the Belgian teenager will be an integral member of Mikel Arteta’s team, espcially with Granit Xhaka’s reported transfer to Bayern Leverkusen in the forthcoming summer.
Lavia, in the just concluded season, was in a sparkling form for the Saints but unfortunately his performance was not enough to rescue the Hampshire-based Football Club from relegation.
The gifted midfielder caught the eyes of many suitors with his excellent display since signing for Southampton from Manchester City’s youth team.
It was gathered that City inserted a buy-back clause into the contract of the talented players and it will take effect from 2024 if the North London outfit fails to secure Lavia’s signature in the coming transfer window.
Lavia, since his breakthrough season has been on the radar of many clubs in the English topflight.
Liverpool are said to be a strong admirer of the teenager and have also expressed keen interest in signing the young midfielder, but the Gunners appears to be at the forefront of the battle for his signature.
If the feelers from Football Insider are anything to go by, Lavia has reportedly agreed to join Arsenal in the summer.
Though, West Ham United’s Declan Rice remains Arsenal’s top priority as they have their two bids for the English midfielder turned over failure to meet Hammers’ valuation.
Arsenal are believed to be preparing another bid for Rice in order to bolster their midfied ahead of the 2023/2024 season.
The Gunners are working behind the scene to bring Dutch and Ajax defensive asset, Jurrien Timber to the English Premier League as a natural right back, a position Arsenal has been improvising with Ben White throughout last season.
Arsenal are expected to launch a formal bid in the region of £40million for the midfielder in the coming days.
