Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has revealed that the redesigned naira notes will be unveiled by President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday, November 23, 2022.

Prior to the announcement, CBN had on October 26, 2022 stated that the new notes: N200, N500, and N1,000 notes, would be in circulation from December 15, 2022, while the new and existing currencies would continue to be legal tender until January 31, 2023.

The CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele, apprised pressmen that the new naira notes will now be unveiled for public use on Wednesday.

He made the statement in Abuja on Wednesday, at the end of the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meeting.

Emefiele maintained that the apex bank won’t shift ground on its deadline for all old notes to be returned to commercial banks in exchange for the newly designed notes.
