Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Timipre Sylva has resigned his appointment.
The presidency made this confirmation on Friday, March 31, 2023.
Sylva was reported to be in preparation for the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primaries in Bayelsa State next month.
According to officials at the Petroleum Resources ministry, the rule of APC requires that Sylva resign about 30 days before the April 14, 2023 governorship primary.
It would be recalled that Sylva was Governor of Bayelsa State for just one term – between 2008 and 2012.
President Muhammadu Buhari’s Special Assistant on Digital Communications, Bashir Ahmad in a post on Twitter confirmed Sylva’s resignation, noting that Sylva resigned his appointment to participate in the next Bayelsa governorship election.
