Chelsea have approached Benfica for the acquisition of Argentine prodigy, Enzo Fernandez.

The midfielder played a prominent role in the tournament as Argentina marched to victory against France in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar earlier this month.

The 21 year old midfield maestro has caught the attention of several top European clubs following his sterling display at the recently concluded World Cup, earning him the Silver Ball as the best young player in the championship.

Liverpool and Manchester United have both expressed interest in Fernandez but have been put off by Benfica’s exorbitant release clause – £106m.
