A Kwara State High Court on Thursday in Ilorin sentenced five persons to jail for cyber-related offences.
The convicts were sentenced on different charges by the court.
The convicts are identified as Aladekomo Samuel, from Ado-Ekiti; Mustapha Bashir, from Ilorin West Local Government Area; Sulyman Mustapha, from Okene; Adedayo Samuel, and Adeoye Olalekan, students of Kwara State Polytechnic in Ilorin.
The trial judge, Justice Mahmud Abdulgafar, said the prosecution had proved their case against the defendants beyond reasonable doubt and thereby pronounced them guilty.
The court condemned Samuel to a six-month jail term on counts 1 and 2, ordering forfeiture of the convict’s iPhone 11 Promax, iPhone 6s and the sum of $400.
On his side, Bashir bagged six months in prison, with forfeiture of his Infinix Hot phone.
Adedayo Samuel and Adeoye Olalekan were sentenced to six months imprisonment with an option of N100,000 and N150,000 fines, respectively.
They are also forfeit money discovered in their various bank accounts to the Federal Government.
The court Sulyman Mustapha sentenced to six-month imprisonment with option to pay N50,000 in fine as he also forfeited his iPhone XR.
