The deposed Emir of Kano, Mallam Muhammad Lamido Sanusi II will be present at the swearing ceremony of the Kano State Governor-elect, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf slated for May 29, 2023.
The 14th Emir of Kano’s decision to attend the inauguration function followed invitation by the Governor-elect who is said to be an ally of the former Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN.
The City Gazette understands that the invitation followed insinuations from the different quarters after Abba “Gida Gida” as he is fondly called among his political enthusiasts claimed that the circumstances in which the former emir was sacked would be reviewed when he takes over as Governor of the state..
Sanusi’s invitation letter was personally signed by the governor-elect and dated May 26, 2023 as the event is scheduled to take place at the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kofar Mata, Kano State.
The letter read, “As you are aware, the 2023 election into the office of the governor was conducted in Kano State on March 18, 2023, to which, by the Grace of Almighty Allah SWT, I emerged as the winner and subsequently issued a certificate of return by INEC. It is therefore my great pleasure to invite you to my swearing in ceremony along with my deputy, Comrade Aminu Abdulsalam Gwarzo.
“It is my belief that your presence will not only significantly add colour to this important event, but also serve as a major boost and support to us, as we embark on a journey that aims at restoring the lost glory and reputation of our dear state by returning it to the path of progress and development in all fields of human endeavour, In sha Allah.
‘’While anticipating your positive response and acceptance to grace the important event. Accept the assurance of my highest regards and consideration, please.”
Recall that Sanusi was dethroned by the outgoing Governor of Kano Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje on March 9, 2020 over allegation that the CBN Governor mismanaged funds meant of the royal institution and his purported public outburst against the government.
