Kwara United Technical Adviser Coach Kabir Sulaiman Dogo has expressed confidence that the Harmony Boys would have an excellent 2023/2024 Nigeria Premier League, NPL, season.
The Ilorin-based team, in preparation for next NPL season, slated to commence on August 26, jets out to Ikenne for the 2nd ValueJet Preseason Tourney this week.
The City Gazette learnt that Kwara United would take part in pre-season matches scheduled to hold between the 4th and 10th of August 2023 at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne, Ogun State.
Dogo admitted that the team started its preseason late but must wrap up preparations before the NPL kick off date.
“The camping and pre-season is crucial to our preparations. According to the organizers, the league will commence on August 26th. The pre-season will serve as a build-up, as it will afford us the opportunity to re-assess the players we have picked so far.
“We are going to Ikenne with as many players as possible, out of which we will continue with the plus and minus until we get the right combination of players for the team.
“That is not to say that we will not be ready for the league. We have just concluded the first phase of preparations, and from our campaign in the ValueJet competition and other friendly matches, we will be certain to what level we will be ready by then.
“The date has already been fixed. We can’t change it, but to work towards it. We thank God for the level of support we are getting from the government, Sports Commission, and the management, being led by Kumbi Titiloye.
This is the second time ValueJet tourney has taken place in the summer before the commencement of the 2023-24 League campaign.
The tourney is facilitated the owners of ValueJet Airline, a private domestic Nigeria airline led by Remo Stars Chief Kunle Soname.
The tourney comprises eight invited Nigeria Premier League Clubs.
