Kwara Social Democratic Party, SDP, governorship candidate, Hakeem Lawal has admonished voters in the state not to sell their rights to politicians who are only reliant on using money to buy their mandate, further cautioning them against mortgaging the future of the upcoming generations.
Hakeem issued this warning at a campaign rally in Asa local government Area of the state, Wednesday, February 8.
He stated, “We’re now at a time where everybody is laying claim to being a lover of the masses, virtually all politicians are now mekunu something or the other, yet the masses are hungry, they’re unhappy and being severely cheated.
“That’s nothing but a pointer that all the so-called lovers of mekunu are nothing but liars and deceivers, who only tricks the masses with stipends in exchange for their present and future of their children.”
He added that “with everybody mouthing to love the masses, we ought to have drastically reduced the woes and sufferings of the masses, sadly successive governments at all levels have done nothing than increase the woes of the masses.
“We perfectly understand the fact that whoever places the interest of the masses first, will always see God answering all their request.”
Hakeem further said his administration’s policy would centre on “the interest of the masses”, giving assurance that he would not fail to deliver on all his campaign promises if elected as governor come March 11.
Speaking on security challenges, unemployment, fuel and currency scarcity, Hakeem said no sincere leader would be at peace with the present ugly situation bedeviling the country.
He, however, clarified that he is only vying for the position of governorship because”he believes the people especially the masses deserves a better deal.”
Hakeem also berated the lack of infrastructural investments in Asa Local Government Area.
“It is unacceptable to us, a situation where Asa LG with its huge and largely untapped potentials lacks access road, domestic water, quality healthcare and educational facilities.”
