E-hailing driver Stephen Abuwatseya has filed a petition with the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, accusing Alex Ikwechegh, a House of Representatives member for Aba North and South, of physical assault and threats.

In a video circulating online, Ikwechegh is seen confronting Abuwatseya after the driver requested that the lawmaker retrieve a food delivery from his gate, in line with e-hailing policies.

The lawmaker, visibly angered, reportedly threatened the driver, claimed the request was disrespectful, and allegedly slapped him multiple times.

Abuwatseya’s lawyer, Marvin Omorogbe, alleges in the petition that Ikwechegh used his position to intimidate the driver, threatening to make him “disappear.”

The Nigeria Police Force has acknowledged the incident, and the FCT Police Command has summoned Ikwechegh for questioning.

The petition calls for a full investigation and possible prosecution.
