In preparation for the 2024 gubernatorial election in Edo State, former governorship aspirant and chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Kenneth Imansuangbon, otherwise referred to as ‘Rice man’, among his political enthusiasts has resigned his membership of the ruling party.
Imansuangbon, while describing his experience as a remarkable one, in a statement made available to newsmen on Wednesday, 7th of June, expressed his gratitude to all members leadership of the PDP, describing his experience as memorable.
While the former PDP stalwart has maintained a tight over his new found party, insinuations, however, had it that he was planning to defect to the Labour Party (LP) to vie for the 2024 governorship pol in the State
“Since 2009, in what was tagged the ‘Ewohimi Declaration’ where I had joined the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has remained a memorable journey for me and I want to thank God almighty for his benevolence.
Imansuangbon admitted that his membership of the PDP has accorded him the privilege to worthy network of friends.
“The course of my political journey in the PDP had afforded me the opportunity to make great and wonderful friends and had shared great moments with which I will cherish for a lifetime.
He further maintained that the time has come for him to explore other avenues and move ahead at the appropriate time.
“However, the reality of the moment has made it decisive that there comes a time in a man’s life when he has to move ahead.
“Consequently, therefore, I hereby tender my resignation of the membership of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
The PDP chieftain, thereby, appreciated the entire PDP members and leadership in the state.
“Once again, I thank the entire leadership and body of the PDP,” he said
The City Gazette reports that his resignation from the party came barely a week after Matthew Urhoghide, a two-time senator, dumped the ruling party.
The incumbent Governor Godwin Obaseki will be bowing out of office after he must have completed his two terms in 2024.
