Kwara State Government has announced a move to replace eight shortlisted applicants for the State Teaching Service Commission, TESCOM, who tested positive for hard drugs.

The announcement was made in a press release signed by TESCOM spokesperson Sam Onile on Monday.

Recall that the Kwara State Government recruited 1,800 teachers, mandating them to take integrity test to ensure their suitability for teaching roles.

The Commission’s chairman, Bello Taoheed Abubakar, stated that eight applicants test positive for hard drugs, including Benzodiazepine, Tramadol, Cotinine, Maurijuana, and Amphetamine.

Taoheed further disclosed that the affected applicants would lose their slots to the next best candidates in performance from their various local government areas.

He said that the motive behind the drug test was to reiterate the state government’s zero tolerance to drug abuse.
