Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II, has urged parents to prevent their children from being exploited by self-serving politicians to instigate chaos during the local government elections in the state.

Speaking to reporters on Friday, he emphasized the importance of peace ahead of the elections scheduled for Saturday, noting, “As you know, there will be local government elections for all 44 councils in the state tomorrow, Insha Allah. Those who truly care for Kano will agree that preserving the peace and security of our state is paramount,” Muhammad Sanusi II noted.

The Emir condemned those who seek to incite violence, labeling them as enemies of the state.

He warned that such actions, often instigated from outside, result in the loss of lives, destruction of wealth, and damage to establishments.

He reflected on recent incidents where outsiders caused unrest, leading to costly repercussions both in human lives and financial damages.

He called on residents, particularly ward heads, village leaders, Imams, and traditional rulers, to discourage youths from becoming pawns in these dangerous schemes that could lead to violence and loss of life.

The Emir expressed his hope for a peaceful election and prayed for the continued protection of the state, adding, “May anyone wishing us harm face the consequences, and may those wishing us well be rewarded.”

In related news, the All Progressives Congress has officially withdrawn from the upcoming local government elections in Kano, according to Prof. Sani Malumfashi, Chairman of the Kano State Independent Electoral Commission.
