Ex-deputy Governor defects to APC in Gombe

Former deputy Governor of Gombe State, Charles Iliya, has joined the ruling All Progressives Congress, (APC) from the People’s Democratic Party, (PDP)

Iliya was deputy Governor to Ibrahim Dankwambo and a major bedrock to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party in Gombe South.

He was unveiled during the flag off of the Gomber Governor, Inuwa Yahya’s re-election campaign.

Some of the defectors are; the North-East PDP youth leader Kabiru Jauro, who pledged his maximum for support Governor’s his re-election bid.

EVENTNG had earlier reported that former Atiku Abubakar’s campaigner, and a former governorship aspirant of the PDP, Isyaku Gwamna, while addressing thousands of followers, described his move as necessary.

Gwamna said, “It was better to rely on what you have seen than what you are promised.”

In his speech, Governor Yahaya said the genuine support his administration is enjoying is as a result of his performance since assumption of office in 2019. “The support is genuine because of our performance,” he said.

In a related news, former Governor Danjuma Goje, who currently represents Gombe Central in the Red Chamber recently reconciled with the governor few days before the APC primary election was the only candidate absent at the campaign.

Goje who currently represents Gombe Central in the Red Chamber picked a return ticket to the Senate.
