Human rights lawyer Femi Falana and his son, Folarin known as Falz in the Nigerian music industry have given crossdresser Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, a 12-hour ultimatum to apologise and retract false comments against the duo online.
The duo threatened the crossdresser to meet their demands within 12 hours or face legal actions, including monetary damage.
In the recordings, shared by media critic Martin Otse, VeryDarkMan, Bobrisky said that he sought Falz’s help in persuading his father, Falana, to secure a presidential pardon for N10 million.
Bobrisky also alleged he requested N3 million from Falz for special treatment at Kirikiri Correctional facility, noting that he paid N5 million to a senior lawyer to get pardon.
In a letter dated 14 October, 2024, Falana’s legal team, accused Bobrisky of making defamatory claims to extort money from the public while damaging their clients’ reputations.
The memo demanded an immediate retraction and apology on all media where the statements were published.
The legal team emphasised that both Falana and his son were never involved in any negotiation with Bobrisky about securing a pardon.
They debunked his claims, stating that Bobrisky had fabricated lies to indict Falana in his alleged criminal activities.
Similarly, the Lagos State High Court ordered VeryDarkMan to take down defamatory content about Falana and Falz from his social media handles.
