A two-storey building collapsed on Amusu Street, Orile Iganmu, Lagos, in the early hours of Monday.

According to a vide clip circulating online, the building caved in, prompting nearby residents to flee for safety.

Mr. Nosa Okunbor, Head of Public Affairs at LASEMA, confirmed the incident, stating that the building collapsed around 8:45 am. Thankfully, no casualties were reported.

In a statement, Okunbor said, “LASEMA Response Teams in Search and Rescue Operation are at the self-collapsed building on Amusu Street. No casualties, updates to follow.”

A LASEMA official, speaking anonymously, confirmed that the building had been evacuated prior to the collapse, preventing any injuries. Emergency responders were promptly deployed to the scene.

This follows previous building collapses in Lagos this year, including incidents in May and July that narrowly avoided casualties.
