Less than 55 days to the 2023 general elections, Zayyanu Wamakko, nephew of the stalwart of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Sen. Aliyu Wammako, has dumped the ruling APC for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Sokoto State.
Zayyanu joined the PDP alongside other APC members.
Governor Aminu Tambuwal while receiving the defectors on Monday in Sokoto, appreciated them for pitching their tents with the PDP.
He further expressed gratitude to the people of the state for their continued support to his administration and the ruling party.
“Therefore, I want to advice our teeming youths to keep their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) safe and engage in house to house campaign fore more support to guarantee the victory of PDP at all levels,” he said.
Tambuwal, however, prided that PDP is the best choice for Nigerians.
“A PDP government, if elected, has designed workable strategies to end banditry, fight corruption, unemployment, address infrastructural decay and boost the socio-economic life of Nigerians among other issues,” he added.
While taking his turn to speak, Malam Sa’idu Umar, the Sokoto gubernatorial candidate of PDP promised to consolidate achievements of the Governor, if elected.
The state Deputy Governor, Alhaji Manir Dan’iya, who is vying for Sokoto North Senatorial seat, said he has no doubt the party would triumph at the polls.
Dan’iya, in his final submission, advised the young supporters to allow peace reign throughout the polls.
