Bobrisky was sentenced on April 12 for naira abuse and released in August.

Social critic Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, had shared an audio clip where Bobrisky allegedly claimed to have paid N15 million to Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) officials to drop money laundering charges.

Bobrisky also claimed that a “godfather” and Nigerian Correctional Service staff arranged for him to serve his sentence in a private apartment instead of prison.

In response, the minister launched an investigation led by Permanent Secretary Magdalena Ajani.

On Monday, Uju Agomoh, a member of the panel, reported that no evidence was found to suggest Bobrisky served time outside the prison during his sentence.

Agomoh stated that Bobrisky was transferred between multiple custodial centers and received several privileges, including a furnished cell, access to a humidifier, and frequent visits from family and friends.

The panel, however, noted that Bobrisky’s transfer to a maximum security facility as a first-time offender violated sections of the Nigerian Correctional Service Act.

The panel recommended further investigation into whether Bobrisky’s privileges were a result of corruption and called for clear guidelines to prevent unequal treatment of inmates based on socio-economic status.
