A 400 level student of the Federal University of Kashere (FUK), Gombe State, Nalkur Zwalnan Lar, has reportedly killed himself over financial strandedness.
The young man committed suicide on Wednesday night at Santuraki area of Kashere town.
Zwalnan, a student in the Faculty of Education, initially took poison but when it was not effective enough he proceeded to hang himself.
Before his demise, he dropped a note detailing the reasons behind his fatal action.
He appreciated his elder brothers, “for everything they have done for him and urged his mother, who he described as the best mother on earth to take it easy with herself.”
He, however, maintained in the note that he didn’t understand what life means, claiming that his father he is a multimillionaire, and yet he can’t buy a smartphone worths N50,000.
He also mentioned the names of people he owed debts and they information on how they would recover their money.
The late Zwalnan apologized to some people simply identified as Favour and Comfort.
FUK’s Head of Information and Protocol, Suleyman Malami Ahmed, who confirmed the incident, added that the university would feed the public with the details when investigation is concluded.
