Four die as villagers clashed over land ownership in Enugu

About 12 suspects have landed in police net, following a communal land fight that the lives of four people dead in two communities in the Ezeagu Local Government Area of the State.

The Enugu Command’s spokesperson, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, made this disclosure on Sunday.

Ndukwe revealed that the social unrest occurred between the Oyofo and Awha communities on Friday at about 10 am.

“The Commissioner of Police, Mr Ahmed Ammani, has ordered the deployment of police operatives to Oyofo and Awha communities.

“The deployment is to maintain the normalcy already restored in the area after the clash.

“The clash led to the murder of four males and the burning of one tricycle and five motorcycles,” he said.

The police spokesman maintained that investigation established that the misunderstanding erupted as a result of land ownership tussle between the communities.
