Retired Arsenal midfielder, Gilberto Silva has charged Gabriel Jesus to live up to expectation.
The Brazillian aas full of confidence that his compatriot will displace Kai Havertz as Arsenal’s strike once he is fully fit.
Since joing the North London club in 2022, Jesus has not been injury free.
The former Manchester City winger didn’t feature for three months in his debut season at the club due to a knee injury.
Havertz has broken into Arsenal starting XI since joining from Chelsea, thus relegating the Brazilian to the bench.
Jesus did not play beyond 16 games for Arsenal through injury last season.
Giberto Silva maintained that Jesus’ career has been seriously affected by injuries.
“You break your rhythm and you always have to start over. It’s a huge challenge for any player.
“But injuries have had a big impact on Jesus’ loss of space, as he was out of action for a long time.
“It also opened up space for Havertz, who played in positions where Jesus would have played. He ended up doing well there.
He, however, claimed that Jesus has the potential to deliver a striker f he is fit. But Havertz’s impact has made “many people” forget about Jesus.
