Former member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Moshood Mustapha, has berated Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, for ordering the demolition of his property, Crystal Palace Mall.
The All Progressives Congress chieftain in his exact words said, “AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq the Governor of Kwara State has come up with his Madness again.”
In a viral Facebook clip on Sunday, Mustapha claimed that the governor threatened to demolish his property due to political disagreements between them.
“He threatened to demolish my Crystal Palace Mall over a mere political disagreement”. “He has lost it completely in Kwara because he’s running a one man show in Kwara politics.”
Mustapha, who contested against AbdulRazaq in the 2019 APC primaries, expressed frustration over the governor’s alleged disregard dissent views among party members, despite enjoying the party’s overwhelming support during the election.
“He came just two weeks before the primaries, we contsted together and through the backdoor, he became the governor of the State. We all accepted him, but now he’s not carrying anyone along.”
He further maintained that the APC is losing political ground in the state, pointing to recent local government election results as evidence of the party losing grip of state to the People’s Democratic Party, PDP.
“The people of Kwara are not gullible. They’ve taken notice of his ways, and the results of the local government elections is a testimony that APC is not doing well any longer, PDP is coming back and another parties are doing far better than APC.”
Mustapha accused the governor of witchunting him following his refusal to align with him politically, describing the demolition threat as a political witch hunt. “I told him I’m not ready to work with him anymore, and because of that, he threatened to bring me down.”
According to Mustapha, on Saturday evening, the governor allegedly sent his aides to his shopping complex, issuing a three-hour notice to tenants to vacate the premises.
He, however, stated that the property has all necessary documents, including approvals from the Town Planning Development Authority. “He said nobody can stop him, and he will continue to destroy anyone who doesn’t align with him,” Mustapha alleged.
He also accused the Kwara State Commissioner of Police of complicity in the matter, saying that the police have become the governor’s instrument of tormentation against perceived political enemies.
“As we speak, he just barricaded my complex, using the commissioner of Police of Kwara State. The Commissioner of Kwara State has decided to join hands in this illegal activity of demolishing an innocent person property on a Sunday evening.”
The wakilin of Ilorin bemoaned the use of law enforcement agencies as a political tool, lamenting it a deviation from their primary duty of protecting lives and property of civilians.
