Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, has eulogized Nigerian president, Muhammadu Buhari for giving his assent to the Electoral Bill, noting that the development which allows for free and fair elections paved way for his emergence as administrator of the state.

Adeleke made this admission during his first meeting with Buhari at the State House, in Abuja, on Friday, January 13, 2023.

The governor said, “Since my election, I feel like I should come and say hello to Mr. President and thank him for signing that Electoral Act because I benefited from it. That paved way for free and fair elections and the international community is applauding Nigeria that Nigeria is set for democracy.

“So that is why I’m here today; to see him, thank him and wish him well in his remaining time in office.”

Senator Adeleke of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), defeated the incumbent governor Gboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress (APC), with a total margin of 28,344 votes in the overall results at the polls conducted on July 16, 2022.
