German and former Chelsea attacker Kai Havertz’ s 86th-minute header has helped Arsenal defeat their stubborn visitors, Brentford, at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday’s evening.
The North London side opened their scoring chart after Declan Rice scored a sublime header through a superb cross from fellow England International Benjamin White just 19 minutes into the derby.
The Gunners continued to press the Middlesex based club, but unfortunately, the Bees’ striker, Yoann Wissa, forced Arsenal Goalkeeper, Aaron Ramsdale to commit a huge howler thereby putting Brentford on level.
Arsenal remained undaunted, trying to find a hole through their opponents’ backline as Rice strike ricocheted off the goal post.
In the 86th-minute of the encounter, Kai Havertz brightened the Gunners Premier League chances as headed past Mark Flekken, a sublime cross from defender White, giving Arsenal a 2-1 victory at home.
With this victory, Arsenal currently top the English Premier League table with 64 points pending the outcome of the match between fellow contenders, Manchester City and Liverpool, who currently boast 62 and 63 points respectively.
