Kwara State branch of the Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT), has eulogized Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for initiating housing plan for teachers in the state.

The union said the scheme is unprecedented since the state was founded in 1967, therefore expressing their happiness over the proposed scheme.

It further noted that AbdulRahman has changed the narrative in the state’s education sector with prompt payment of teachers salaries and entitlements compared to amputated salaries they received under the previous administration.

While addressing journalists in Ilorin, chairman of the association, Comrade Oyewo Muhammad Bashir described the housing scheme as a welcome development, pledging to support the government.

He said, “It’s a welcome development and it is the first time any government in Kwara State has taught it wise and deemed it fit to make teachers more comfortable. Therefore, I think the government of Mallam AbdulRazaq deserves huge commendation for the kindness.

”I believe that one of the most convenient things that human beings need and desire is comfortable accommodation. If the state government has deemed it fit to capture teachers with the intention of providing a housing estate where teachers would have the opportunity of getting their personal houses, I think is a welcome development and a thing of joy to NUT and teachers in general.

“We are glad about it. Indeed, we are looking forward to a good working relationship as we also pray for the realization of the project,” he added.
