A short video has surfaced on social media where Nigerian singer and socialite Seun Kuti boasting that he had slapped many operatives of the Nigerian Police Force in the past.
The City Gazette reports how the son of Afrobeat giant, Fela Anikulapo Kuti, has set the social media buzzing after he was involved physical assault with a police officer whom he shoved and slapped on the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos.
The Inspector General of Police, IGP, Usman Alkali Baba, immediately ordered that the controversial musician be arrested and investigated.
It has yet to be ascertained whether the latest clip of Seun Kuti making the rounds on various social media platforms was recorded recently, but the superstar was seem blabbing that he had physically assaulted several police officers as a result of his personality in the society.
The afrobeats hut maker noted that, “Some of una police go slap una, una go come Instagram to explain. You know how many police I don tear slap?” he asked in pidgin.
“They say because you be Fela pikin. You no know say na because Jesus be God pikin e fit die for you? You must know who you are before you make your move. So, I make my move because I know who I am, he said in the viral video clip.”
Shortly after the incident, Kuti disclosed via his official Instagram handles that the security man he slapped had attempted killing him and his family by improperly stopping his vehicle on the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos.
He furthered that the Police officer in question has apologized and that he had forgiven him.
He said: “He tried to kill me and my family. I have the proof but I no dey chase clout. He has apologized and I have agreed not to press charges. Make una mind una business make the poor guy no lose his job.”
Speaking on the warrant of arrest the IGP issued against him, the singer maintained that he welcomed the development and he would cooperation with the Force during the investigation.
