The factional National Chairman of the Labour Party, LP, Lamidi Apapa has revealed that he truly wants the party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 elections, Peter Obi to win his case before the Presidential Tribunal, saying he has shown him more support that the Obidients.
The LP chieftain maintained that if Obi wins at the Tribunal and becomes President of Nigeria, things would automatically turn out well for him as well.
The City Gazette learnt that the embattled Apapa made the assertion on Thursday, May 18 during a programme on Arise TV, stating that none of those who claim to Peter Obi’s supporters dearly love the former Governor of Anambra state the way he does.
He, however, added that the total number of votes he secured for the Labour Party party in the last 2023 general election is an indication of his political stronghold.
In his words, “I am fully behind Obi’s mandate, and I’ve said it several times. None of them can tell me that they are more obidients than myself because where I voted and the votes I got is a confirmation of my wish for Peter Obi to rule Nigeria.
“So none of them can tell me they are more of it than myself. So I am fully with him and on Obi’s mandate I am because if he wins the election and he becomes President, I think my life would be better than what it is now, there is no doubt about it.
“I am an elderly person, I understand life. So, anybody that is saying something contrary, that person is just been mischievous.
“I prefer him (Obi) to be there and I keep on maintaining that on Obi’s mandate I stand.”
In a similar development, Apapa had earlier accused Peter Obi of mobilising his supporters to attack him at the court, thereby cursing the person who disrespectfully his embarrassed him by removing his cap.
Apapa, embittered by the treatment meted on him by the supposed supporters of the LP presidential candidate, said those who embarrassed would not grow old.
