I want to be like Buba Marwa – Osun Governor, Adeleke says

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke has heaped praises former military governor of Lagos State, Brigadier-General (retd) Buba Marwa for his excellent performance while he was in charge of the state.

Adeleke noted that he would follow in the footsteps of Marwa who left an indelible imprint in Lagos State.

The governor said this during the Champion Newspapers’ Awards of the Year 2022 held at Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.

The event was attended by captains of various industries- in both private and public sectors.

Speaking at the occasion, Adeleke said, “When you were the Govenor of Lagos State, you did very well. I’m proud of you. That is what I planned in Osun State,” he told Marwa.

He further revealed that the Award Event is a big challenge for him to up his performance as the new Governor of Osun State.

“I appreciate you on the award. It is going to ginger me more. I dedicate the award to Osun people.”

Reacting to his selection as Man of the Year, Marwa said, “Champion Newspapers is one of the old and best newspapers in the country. It is a challenge for me to work harder.”

He, however, appreciated organisations such as Union Nations, European Union and similar other organizations, who have been collaborating with NDLEA in the area of intelligence to ensure the agency succeed its fight against trafficking of illicit drugs.

He noted, “They don’t give cash but they provide training and we share intelligence.”

He also thanked all his operatives of the agency for their diligence, adding that they go extra mile to ensure maximum security in the country.

He also used the opportunity to charge members of the public to join hand with the agency in the war against drug abuse, Marwa stated, “It is a collective fight. Everyone should stand up and be ready to fight the drug scourge.”

Former Cross River State Governor, Donald Duke who was awarded most outstanding South-South Person of the Year, 2022 appreciated the platform for honouring him 16 years after he had left office.

He noted, “I want to thank those who served with me and I thank Champion Newspapers’.Group, they must have dug it up. There is nothing we can do for God but to serve humanity.”
