Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, in the last general election, has expressed confidence that the party will coast to victory in the November 11 governorship election in Imo State.
He boasted that LP is reputed for performance and excellence.
The former governor of Anambra State made this comment in Owerri, the capital, on Tuesday, during the flag off of the party’s gubernatorial campaign.
Obi said the people of Abia State are currently enjoying the dividends of democracy because a “first-class brain” with excellent leadership qualities is now governing the state.
He furthered that the LP governorship candidate, Athan Achonu, in Imo State, and Julius Abure, national chairman of the party are bonified members of the party.
“LP wants to change Nigeria. We are asking Nigeria for the opportunity. Give us a chance in Nigeria. There will be change. In Abia State today, there is hope. That is what is called governance.
“We want Nigeria to have leaders that will do what they preach. We know what it takes to change Nigeria. That is why we are here. We know what it takes to change, Imo,” he said.
