Imo State Police Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit has dismantled a suspected IPOB/ESN terrorist camp in Nempi, Oru West Local Government Area, leading to the arrest of 29 suspects, including 25 men and 4 women.
In a statement on Sunday, Police Public Relations Officer Henry Okoye revealed that the operation followed the arrest of Anukuru Nnana Emmanuel, 25, in Mgbidi. His confession led officers to the camp.
Recovered during the raid were 4 pump action guns, 2 revolvers, 5 pistols, 3 AK-47 magazines, a POS machine, 20 rounds of live ammunition, a white SUV, and bulletproof charms.
Additionally, over 200,000 naira, allegedly extorted from kidnapping victims, was found.
The police are continuing investigations and working to apprehend those responsible for manufacturing the weapons.
The Command emphasized its commitment to fighting violent crime and urged the public to report any suspicious activity.
