The Independent National Electoral Commission has announced the All Progressives Congress presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, as the winner of the February 25th Presidential Election.

The former Lagos State governor emerged president-elect after polling 8,805,420 votes to win the 2023 presidential election.

The announcement was made by the INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu at the International Collation Centre in Abuja during the early hours of Wednesday.

Tinubu defeated the Peoples Democratic Party candidate, Atiku Abubakar; the Labour Party candidate, Peter Obi; and the New Nigeria Peoples Party candidate, Rabiu Kwankwaso.

The three leading presidential candidates won in 12 states each while Kwankwaso claimed only Kano State.

Tinubu, a first-time contender floored his closest rival and former vice president, Atiku who has been vying for the highest office in the country since 1992, with no fewer than 1.8 million votes.

In summation,  Tinubu polled 8,794,726 votes, While Atiku got 6,984,520 votes, Peter Obi scored 6,101,533 votes and Kwankwaso garnered 1,496,687 votes.

Peter Obi, a former governor of Anambra state who was regarded as the underdog took Nigerian political analysts by surprise with his sterling performance at the just concluded presidential election.
