Business owners remain hopeless as the fire outbreak which occurred around 07.22pm, at the popular Oja-Tuntun Baboko market complex, in Ilorin West Local Government Area of the state destroyed their shop and other valuables.
Property worth N80m were lost in the unfortunate incident on Thursday.
Spokesman of the state fire service, Hassan Adekunle revealed that Fire Service personnel quickly contained the spread of the fire to other shops which could have led to further destruction in the market.
Only six out of the 1070 shops were affected by the inferno.
According to the Fire Service, the outbreak was reportedly caused by the careless attitude of one of the shop owners within the market.
Director, Kwara State Fire Service, Prince Falade John Olumuyiwa, while rejoicing with all Muslims on the occasion of the Eid-el-Fitr celebration, charged them to make safety their watchword, most importantly with their cooking materials.
