A fire incident occurred on Wednesday morning at the Sobi Specialist Hospital in Ilorin, the capital city of Kwara State
The outbreak, which, according to reliable sources, took place around 8:35am at the COVID-19 Centre in the facility.
But fortunately, multiple sources claimed that no death was recorded during the inferno.
A hospital source told Daily Trust “an unidentified” person had set an underground fire which spread to the COVID-19 Centre.
The Public Relations Officer of the Kwara State Fire Service, Hassan Adekunle, confirmed the incident while fielding questions from Daily Trust correspondent on Wednesday evening.
“Upon arrival, the firemen found one of the six wards in the centre ablaze and immediately began firefighting efforts to contain it.
“But no lives were lost during the incident”, he said.
The Sobi Specialist Hospital was used as a quarantine centre the state government during the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020.
